The not-so bicycle tire friendly cattle guards. Heading west along Route 66 they are found in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico.
Hard to believe, but after riding through 5 states Michelle changes her first flat on the back tire. Unfortunately there were many more to follow.
Victorious day for Michelle. She pedaled around boulders of snow to reach 7,250 feet with BOB dragging behind her. Can you find her in the picture?
Riding the shoulder of the highway, the view of the road climbing to Clines Corners, altitude 7250 feet.
Ya gotta love construction! To Michelle's delight she had the newly paved section of the interstate to herself as she pedaled to the New Mexico Stateline.
The ladies of the Midpoint Cafe.
Pictured left to right: Sarah, Christine, and cafe owner Fran.
Michelle at the Route 66 landmark Midpoint Cafe, enjoying a slice of Sarah's Ugly Crust Pie for breakfast. Best pie in all of Texas!(Chocolate Whipped-Cream, just like her grandmother used to make.) This was her second course, first devouring one of Fran's fabulous omelettes.
