Traci Bidinger traveled an entire day from Maryland to Oklahoma to reach Michelle. She found Michelle in El Reno, OK and stayed with her for the weekend, guiding her to the Texas border. Brook Bowers Jr. and Brook Bowers Sr. Father and son met Michelle at the Cadillac Ranch during their holiday road-trip. Brook Bowers Sr. gave Michelle a guardian angel pin to wear for the rest of her trip. A week later, Brook Bowers Jr. remembered she mentioned a banana craving. The result was a care package waiting for Michelle at the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, AZ. In addition to a much needed "pick-me-up" he sent her new socks, a memory card, and an IOU for organic bananas!

"Tatoo Man" Ron Jones came all the way to the Yockeys home on Monkey Island to meet Michelle and wish her and her brother well. Ron has 48 tatoos of Route 66 landmarks all over his body.

A chance meeting in the gift shop of the El Rancho Hotel turned these strangers into dear friends in a matter of minutes. In addition to taking BOB ahead to Chambers, AZ they kept close tabs on Michelle's journey and caused a media frenzy from Rialto to Costa Mesa, spreading the word about route2outsmartcancer. They also made a special trip to John's house after her Christmas arrival.
